MOVING FILES AND FOLDERS OFF OF YOUR COMPUTER AND ONTO GOOGLE DRIVE

  1. Step 1 - UPLOAD
    1. Click the nine dots icon in Gmail then click "Drive"
    2. Click the "New" button
    3. Click "File upload" or "Folder upload" to upload your items to Google Drive
  2.  Step 2 - VERIFY
    1. Go to Google Drive and find your uploads. They are in your "My Drive" section
    2. Open several different uploaded files, from several different folders, until you are convinced that the upload of all of your items was successful.
      1. You can't open everything, so the best you can do is to test random samples of your uploads then assume the rest of your items would test the same

 

OPTIONAL - IF YOUR GOAL IS TO FREE UP DISK SPACE ON YOUR COMPUTER:

  1. If you have verified that your items uploaded successfully, and ONLY if you have VERIFIED this, you can then delete the originals from your computer. YOU MUST EMPTY THE TRASH TO REGAIN THE FREE SPACE.
