Copying files and folders so you can move them to your new MacBook Pro

NOTE: This process could take 1+ hours, so plan accordingly. It's best not to use your computer during the copy process. You don't want to accidentally mess anything up mid-copy.

    1. Print these instructions - it will be much easier to check off each step!

    1. Plug your computer in

          1. Let the copy process finish

          1. If there are items in your Downloads folder that you want or need then repeat the same for that folder

          1. Let the copy process finish
        1. For Movies, Music, and Pictures we want only school-related items copied onto Google Drive. Please  copy only those items.
  1. VERIFY your items copied correctly!

    1. Let everything finish copying
    2. Open a web browser and log in to your Google Drive
    3. Find the copies you just made. They are in the "My Drive" section.
    4. Estimate whether it looks like the expected number of files and folders are there
    5. Open several different files, from several different folders, until you are convinced that the copies of your items open normally.
      1. You can't open everything. The best you can do is to open random samples of your copied files and, if they seem normal, you then assume that the rest of your items copied successfully as well.
