Can students get sites unblocked if they need them for class?
Yes, a blocked site can be temporarily unblocked by a teacher. The block page has details about the site such as the category of the page and the blocking plan being applied, etc but there’s also a big blue button with “ASK FOR PERMISSION”. Once clicked, a student can select the reason for the unblock request and put in their teacher’s email address to have a request sent on their behalf. If granted by the teacher, the page will be unblocked for an hour.
The exception to this is if a site is not being blocked by category but is already being explicitly blocked by name. If that’s the case there is not a button to ask for permission.
