Provisioning a new Brother printer for deployment
- Find an available IP address to assign to the new printer
- Open webmanager and choose an unasigned static IP address to use
- Ping that IP to verify that nothing is connected to it
- Adjust printer settings
- Connect printer to ethernet cable
- Print its network summary page to see its DHCP-assigned IP
- Open that IP in a web browser to access the printer's settings
- Change DHCP to static
- Enter your static IP and save
- This will disconnect you from the printer
- Open the static IP you chose in a web browser
- This just verifies that the printer successfully accepted your static IP
- Add printer to your computer at System Settings/Printers & Scanners
- Address = enter your static IP address
- Protocol = AirPrint
- Queue = leave blank
- Name = name the printer
- Location = leave blank
- Use = choosing AirPrint should have made the model-specific AirPrint driver show up automatically here
- Add the printer to your computer
- Test it
- As of 20240515, add printer to Jamf Admin
- Click "Add Printers"
- Choose the new printer
- Click "Save" to save to Jamf Admin
- Create Jamf policy to install this printer
- Make it ongoing in Self Service
- Install printer on a different computer using Self Service to test out if it works
