You can set Gmail to be your default mail application very easily. This is useful for when you click an email address on a website, it will open a new message to compose in Gmail, not in Apple Mail or any other application. THIS WILL ONLY WORK WITH CHROME, it will not work in Safari or Firefox.
Login to your gmail (preferably your St. Andrew's email address).
Look for the icon circled in red and click that.
Click "Allow" and Done.
Now all email links on websites will open a new message to compose in gmail.
If the icon is not present in the address bar for some reason.
- Pulling down from the Chrome menu and selecting "Preferences".
- Scroll to the bottom of the Settings tab that opened.
- Click "Show Advanced Settings".
-Scroll down slightly till you see a button labeled "Manage handlers".
-Click "Manage Handlers".
-Click the menu next to "mailto".
-Select "mail.google.com".
-Click "Done" and click "Done" again and close the "Settings" tab.
